The 17th ANNUAL
HOSPICE CHARITY CUP is scheduled for August 6 & 7, 2010.
Hospice of Jefferson County is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit
community based healthcare provider serving Jefferson and southern
St. Lawrence Counties. Our mission is to provide care for
individuals with life threatening illness and their families in
this two-county region, regardless of ability to pay. Fundraising
events are relied upon throughout the year to assist us in
continuing to provide our very special programs and services to the
community. The Charity Cup has become our signature fundraising
event and is recognized as one of the premier sailing and social
events on Lake Ontario.
The weekend long event offers something for everyone whether on
land or lake. Beginning with a first ever junior race competition
at the Crescent Yacht Club in Chaumont on Friday, August 6th at 5PM
and followed by a cocktail reception and dinner with live
entertainment. Tickets for the reception and dinner are $25 for
adults and $15 for ages 12 and under.
Registration for the sailors competing in the Charity Cup races
will begin at 7AM on Saturday August 7th, the ships will set sail
at 10:30. After the races, a Shore Reception to meet and party with
the sailors is scheduled from 4 - 7 PM at the Sackets Harbor
Bandstand with food, beer and wine and live entertainment by the
Baby Boomers. Tickets for the Shore Reception are $20.
Tube Race registration will begin at noon on Aug 7th at the Liberty
Sackets Harbor Marina, with the races slated to be held from 3-5PM.
At only $20 per two person team this is a great opportunity to have
a lot of fun while competing for prizes. Challenge your family and
all your friends to an afternoon filled with fun and adventure.
This is a great opportunity for businesses to challenge each other
all for the benefit of Hospice.
Hospice Charity Cup a is a member of the National Hospice Regatta
Alliance; a qualifying event for the National Championship where
twenty-one teams of sailors from all over the country competed in
the 10th annual Hospice Regattas National Championship, held in
Rochester, New York on June 5, 2009. John Enwright and his team,
winners of our 2008 Charity Cup event were first place winners at
the National Championship. This is the first time our local
champion has won the National Race.
About the
National Hospice Regatta Alliance:
The NHRA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) association of hospice regattas
that independently raise money and awareness for hospices in their
communities. Its all-volunteer board represents a rapidly expanding
network of regattas that publicize Hospice care -- from the East to
the West Coast, from the Great Lakes to Florida. The mission of the
NHRA is to promote hospice care through sailing regattas, and to
help hospice regattas grow and learn from each other. Since the
first hospice regatta in 1982, more than 20,000 sailors, sponsors
and volunteers have raised more than $12 million to provide hospice
care to terminal patients and their families without regard to
ability to pay.
